Title and abstract of his presentation:
Automatic Detection of Sensitivity to Musical Notes by Event Related P300 Signals
Entrance to conservatories involves a music examination. A significant phase of this examination assesses individuals' ability to identify notes using a reference pitch they have heard. In this study, nine participants with diverse musical backgrounds were enrolled in an experiment, and their electroencephalography data were recorded. This unique dataset underwent preprocessing, which included filtering and baseline correction. Subsequently, analyses were conducted using P300 signals. In addition to the analyses found in the literature, performance evaluations were carried out from different perspectives. The proposed method generated an index indicating the level of relative musical ear abilities of the participants using the designed paradigm of experiment. It has been shown that this specially developed index correlates highly with the participants' musical experiences.
